Makerspaces in schools, libraries and museums have become popular overthe past decade. There are many ways to set up and run such spaces, andthose creative spaces are perfect for teaching various skills required in theSTEM fields. Ashanti joined the Fleet Science Center in February 2014. She received her BA in Creative Arts and Communications: Art, Design, and Media with Combined Studies in 2009 from Richmond the American International University, London, England. In her time with the Fleet, she has developed fee-based programs for the Tinkering Studio and created visitor engagement opportunities for the gallery floor.
